Touch the SKY [GIVENCHY SPRING 2011 COUTURE]

As The Lust for Luxury continues, couture seems a natural subject to present.  Amidst huge productions, elaborate sets, and armies of models, Riccardo Tisci presents a mere 10 exits in a gilded salon for Givenchy's spring couture show, much like he did for fall. While "less is more" for the presentation, more is certainly more when it comes to the actual collection. The glitzy bone motif from last season has been replaced with crane motifs and more subdued, yet still intricate, bead work. The most notable theme of the collection, however, was contrast. The palette was largely muted from the front, but each garment featured a bold contrasting color on the back ranging from orange to yellow to fuchsia. The colors added a much appreciated modern edge to the pieces. The futuristic Philip Treacy headdresses, however, seemed out of place.  Enjoy.

The DUKE of LUXOR [Tom Ford Spring 2011 Womenswear]

This January, Lifestyles of the Rich & Shameless presents "The Lust for Luxury" and what better way to kick things off than with a video of the ultra luxe spring 2011 collection from the incomparable Tom Ford. He debuted the collection during NYC Fashion Week with much excitement and even more exclusivity; photos from the event weren't released for weeks and Terry Richardson was the only photographer on hand to shoot the show. The hush-hush presentation was held at Ford's Madison Avenue boutique, and while the usual suspects like Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington were in attendance, the show was certainly not ordinary. Instead of the high-octane, fast paced catwalk, Ford opted for a much more intimate and informal setting. The "models" were a diverse group ranging from newer faces like Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, and Joan Smalls to veterans like Liya Kebede, Carolyn Murphy and Amber Valletta and on to big Hollywood faces like Julianne Moore, Lauren Hutton, Beyoncé Knowles and Daphne Guinness; they all sashayed down the aisles casually, while the designer narrated the presentation. And what a presentation it was! From feathered headress, leopard printed suiting, and beadwork galore, the garments were nothing short of perfection. Tom Ford truly is a glutton for glamour. Enjoy!
