Those Were The Days [Aaliyah's Rock the Boat]

Songs of Summer winds down on a somber note. Exactly nine years ago R&B singer Aaliyah died in a tragic airplane crash with 8 others while leaving the Bahamas after filming her final video, Rock the Boat. Director Hype Williams was able to capture the rising star in all her glory and this is how we will remember Aaliyah forever; dancing in the ocean, washed in light... like an angel. Thank you.

The New Victorian [Lace Covered Shoes]

Lace makes a comeback for Fall 2010. Everyone from Christian Louboutin to Alexander McQueen has created a version of the lace pump. It's very easy for lace to look old and matronly, so pair these shoes with young silhouettes and colors for a classic yet fresh look. Enjoy!

STUDIO 54 [Margiela, Simons]

In the City that doesn't sleep, the lights never go out and the party never ends. Maison Martin Margiela and Raf Simons kept this in mind while creating these shiny party pieces. Margiela got straight to it with a disco ball motif, while Simons went for more of a Silver Surfer feel. Enjoy!

Blame It On the ALCOHOL [Trey Songz + Nicki Minaj]

Check out this sexy, Anthony Mandler directed clip for Trey Songz new track, Bottoms Up, featuring Nicki Minaj. Over all, I have no complaints. This is my type of video; great editing, eye candy, and spot-on styling. It also doesn't hurt that the track is bananas and Nicki's verse is insane. Enjoy!

The Wrap Up [Yves Saint Laurent]

Effortless and easy but still sexy is the idea behind this silk wrap dress by Yves Saint Laurent. The asymmetrical hemline and plunging neckline bring the sexy, while the smokey green color brings the subtle. It's perfect for hot summer nights on the town. Enjoy!

Up High, Up HIGHER! [SERGIO ROSSI]

Sergio Rossi delivers a textured, fringed boot in brown and black leather. It's the perfect height and shape, and the ruffled detail provides just the right amount of drama to seal the deal. It's Moulin Rouge meets Matrix.

O.J.'s Back! [Givenchy]

The temperature has dropped and fall is just around the corner so it's time to start thinking about fall accessories. If you want to go over-the-top, Givenchy has the perfect pair of gloves for you. Get into this green embellished leather pair. They're far from practical but they look great. This is one pair you wouldn't want to lose. Enjoy!

COLD WAR [Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 Menswear]

Christopher Bailey is expecting a cruel, harsh winter season this year as outerwear was the focus of his fall 2010 collection for Burberry Prorsum. The coats sauntered down the runway in virtually every variation possible; they were long, short, leather, wool, belted, baggy, tailored, double-breasted, shearling and embellished. Fur-lined boots were also a standout. Though the military theme was hardly new territory for the brand, it was certainly done well. So if you plan on battling the cold winter days, start shopping for your armor here.

I'm FOCUSED, Man [Mya, Jay-Z Best of Me Part 2]

For this edition of "Songs of Summer" we're going back to the year 2000. The throwback sports jersey was at it's peak, rappers went bling crazy, and Roc-A-Fella was the label! One day we'll look back and this will be "The Golden/Gilded Age."
Enjoy!

PINKY and the BRAIN [Christian Louboutin]

So here's the scenario: you fall in love with a pair of shoes, you buy them, and then you realize that you have no idea what to wear them with. What do you do? Well a close friend was in this very situation and came to me for a consult. The shoe: a pair of metallic pink fred flats by Christian Louboutin. The solution: a white shirtdress. Jazz up the look with arm candy but stick to a fairly classic aesthetic. See the full look here.

You Had Me @ Hello [Janis Savitt]

Janis Savitt strikes again with a truly extravagant piece from her Fall 2010 collection. This ostentatious necklace pairs sophisticated decadence with an industrial edge creating a unique, standout piece. The obvious recommendation would be to opt for a simple yet chic ensemble but let's not be predictable. I like the idea of pairing this necklace with a very casual look: ripped jeans or cut-offs, a printed blouse and a belted (but open) trench coat.

These BOOTS Were Made For Walking! [Givenchy]

Givenchy serves up a calf hair ankle bootie for the upcoming fall season. I love the shape, the strap and the texture of this boot. It's a great way to incorporate the season's big trend (fur) without doing too much. See below for details on where to buy.

Poison Ivy [Christian Dior Couture Fall 2010]

Flower Power was the theme at Christian Dior's fall couture show, and we're not talking hippies here. Dramatist extraordinaire, John Galliano paired bold colors with extreme silhouettes to create a romantic and fantastical collection. He gives us a lesson in volume with sky high hair (wrapped in florists' plastic) and very full skirts. The hard make up and dramatic hair made for a surprisingly complementary contrast against the soft ruffles, plumage and ruching. While I absolutely admire Galliano's craftsmanship, I rarely appreciate his aesthetic; this collection is certainly an exception. Enjoy!
