So the reign of the "it bag" has come to a close and the statement shoe has held a coup to capture the throne. Big name designers, like Leowe, Chanel and Sergio Rossi are creating shoes that don't just look great but have new and interesting elements; in one sense, the shoe has become a conversation piece. This trend reminds me of the denim craze that swept the nation and all we cared about was the design or stitching on the back pockets. Now it's all about the heel. Last season John Galliano created a shoe with a mini fertility idol as the heel for Dior and Karl Lagerfeld caused a fuss when a light bulb-heeled shoe went down a Chanel runway. Here are some more innovative examples of this growing trend from Fall 2009. Enjoy

They look good enough, but I wonder how safe it is to actually walk in these shoes. I suggest you tread lightly.
