Love You Long Time [Shipley & Halmos Spring 2011]

Shipley & Halmos cleverly update classic men's wardrobe staples with a healthy dose of fun. It's certainly not a new concept, but it continues to be a recipe for commercial success. And people think fashion isn't practical.

American Idol [Beyoncé Run the World (Girls)]

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program with the release of Beyoncé's highly anticipated new video for "Run the World (Girls)," the first release from her fourth studio album, aptly titled "4" which is set for release on Tuesday, June 28th (aka my birthday). The Francis Lawrence (Cry Me A River, Bad Romance) directed clip has Beyoncé and a horde of women in a post-apocalyptic desert in a one-sided dance off with male soldiers. As with most of her videos, the fashion is insane. Her styling team literally ravaged Paris Fashion Week with pieces by Peter Dundas for Emilio Pucci, Givenchy Couture by Riccardo Tisci, Norma Kamali, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier and Gareth Pugh! Get into the vid!

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

LOUB IT UP [Christian Louboutin]

Christian Louboutin continues his foray into men's fashion with some dangerously dope sneakers. He updates his classic Louis sneaker with Swarovksi crystals, patent leather, and some insane studding. Anyone of these is a great summer stunt shoe, even if summer doesn't seem to be on its way.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered [Viktor & Rolf Spring 2011]

I've been a fan of Viktor & Rolf's menswear collections for a few seasons. They do a great job of creating clothes that look easy and functional, but with great high impact design details. This season, the duo stuck mostly to a subdued palette of cream, navy, and black. As always, the tailoring was fantastic. The drama came courtesy of a few printed, teal, and beaded pieces that were perfectly calculated. A little more use of color wouldn't have hurt, but I'll continue to be fan this season, and I'm sure retailers will as well. Will you?

Walk This Way [Brogues]

Shoes are arguably the single most important accessory in a man's closet, and every man should own a pair of brogues! Like all my favorite pieces, the brogue has a [hi]story. With Scottish origins, the characteristic perforation was actually designed as a practical function to drain water while walking through northern Europe's marshy landscape. In fact, brogues were not considered appropriate for formal dressing. These days, much has changed; brogues are a wardrobe staple for even the least fashion-savvy businessman. Online retailer Mr. Porter, the virtual bible for all menswear essentials, has a few fresh updates to this classic shoe for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. Check out my picks below!
